What is an AWTS system?
An Aerated Wastewater Treatment System (AWTS) is an on-site sewage management system.
Those living in the city or built-up areas have the convenience of wastewater being flushed into a central system. For those in outlying areas, installation of an Aerated Wastewater Treatment System is essential. Some properties still function on a trench system, but this approach is being gradually replaced as they are problematic to our waterways and environment.
Generically known as an envirocycle, all new builds are required by the council to install an Aerated Wastewater Treatment System (AWTS).
Councils have a strict code regarding the installation and upkeep of these systems. Once operational, they require the property owner to arrange quarterly inspections and be serviced by a qualified service technician.
Regular servicing of the aerated septic systems ensures optimal operation, reducing the risk of systems overflowing or offensive smells.
